EmpowerED is a regional initiative focused on strengthening media literacy and combating disinformation in Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia. This project is implemented in partnership with the following six organizations:

  1. Poland – Institute for Discourse and Dialogue
  2. Slovakia – PDCS, o.z., Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia –
  3. Hungary – Subjective Values Foundation
  4. Czech Republic – Choose Your Info
  5. Moldova – Association of Independent Press –
  6. Armenia – Yagvard NGO

The EmpowerED project addresses a critical issue of information deficiency and media illiteracy in local communities, particularly in Eastern Partnership (EAP) countries. It aims to build information resilience through targeted youth capacity-building activities such as International Training course and Training of Trainers (ToT) and local workshops. In addition, the project includes the development of a structured curriculum, comprehensive learning materials, and a self-paced online course, creating an accessible and holistic approach to empowering young people to combat disinformation effectively.

The project is financed by the governments of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia through the Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to promote sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe. Co-funding is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

Through this initiative, EmpowerED seeks to create a lasting impact in Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia by equipping youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to critically engage with media and tackle the challenges posed by disinformation.
