Youth in Georgia Trained to Combat Disinformation and Promote European Values
The Youth Center for Civil Development, with the financial support of the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund, is implementing the project “Strengthening Youth Resilience: Combating Disinformation and Promoting European Aspirations in Conflict-Affected and Ethnic Minority Communities.” The project aims to promote democratic values in Georgia and combat disinformation by developing media literacy and advocacy skills among young people.
As part of the project, a Media Literacy and Advocacy Training was held in Rustavi from November 9 to 11, 2024. The event brought together young participants from Kvemo Kartli and Shida Kartli regions, including those from villages near the occupation line and ethnic minority communities.
The training developed young leaders’ knowledge and skills, enabling them to implement awareness-raising initiatives at the local level about the threats of disinformation. Additionally, the participants were empowered to act as peer educators within their communities, fostering greater resilience against disinformation.
