Strengthening Youth Resilience: Study Visit in Vilnius

The Youth Center for Civil Development, with financial support from the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund, is implementing the project “Strengthening Youth Resilience: Combating Disinformation and Promoting European Aspirations in Conflict-Affected and Ethnic Minority Communities.” The project aims to promote democratic values in Georgia and combat disinformation through the development of media literacy and advocacy skills among young people.

As part of the project, from March 11 to 14, a group of 15 civic and media youth activists from Georgia participated in an experience-sharing study visit in Vilnius, Lithuania. The visit provided a unique opportunity for participants to explore how Lithuania, as an EU member state, addresses disinformation and promotes civic resilience at both institutional and grassroots levels.

The visit began with an introduction to the Digital Services Act at the Representation of the European Commission in Lithuania and continued with a series of expert-led sessions. Key topics included understanding and recognizing propaganda, Lithuania’s grassroots efforts to counter disinformation, practical techniques for detecting fake news, emotional manipulation in media, and youth engagement strategies. Participants also engaged in interactive workshops such as the Barnga Silent News Game and explored innovative approaches to media literacy and civic resilience.
